Booster Juice's Future

Source: http://www.nedc.info/files/Build%20your%20future%20logo%20small_0.jpg
Overall, I personally think that there is still a future for Booster Juice. Why? Because many Canadians are becoming more health conscious. Their freshly squeezed, high nutrient smoothies have differentiated their products from their competitors who offer high-sugar, high-fat beverages.

Due to health related sickness caused by obesity, stress, cancer, and diabetes, people are now considering healthier choices. If you have read my last blog, you know that there are advantages and disadvantages to drinking smoothies, but there are still other ways to how you can make your smoothies healthier by customizing it. Booster Juice also offers other drink such as fresh juices, and wheat grass shots. They have a variety of choices to consumers which gives the ability to satisfy a larger chunk of the population.

Everyday, the media reminds us of the risks of unhealthy eating. Because of the media, many people are aware of the benefits of healthy eating, and will encourage their kids to eat right. As such, people consume beverages that are more nutritious.

Therefore, the future of Booster Juice is in good hands. Don't you agree?

  • Fruits promotes weight loss and gives you a light body.

  • It can promote extraordinary physical health.
  • Your respiratory system will function better.
  • Can sharpen your senses to an extraordinary degree.

DISADVANTAGES

I was reading a blog by a nutritionist named Rachel Hewitt. In her blog, she has stated that:
  • Booster Juice's smoothies are very high in sugar. Even though fruit is a healthy option, consuming too many fruits can lead to symptoms of diabetes because of the high sugar content in the fruits.
  • The whey protein that Booster Juice uses is a mixture of concentrate and isolate which can be allergenic.
  • Booster Juice's vanilla soy milk is not organic, meaning it is most likely genetically modified, however, the chocolate soy milk is organic which makes it a better option.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR SMOOTHIE HEALTHIER AND BE HEALTHY

In Rachel Hewitt's blog, she was able to provide us on some ways we can make our Booster Juice smoothie healthier:
  • Ask for water instead of juice to cut down on sugar
  • Get the frozen yogurt instead of the sorbet
Don't forget that smoothies are not the only thing Booster Juice serves! They also have fresh juices and wheat grass shots.

Here is a list of fruits with complete illustrations of their health benefits and nutrition facts that can be useful when picking out or customizing your smoothies:

If you check out Canada's Food Guide, it provide you detailed information on how much fruits and vegetables an individual must consume per day. To avoid yourself from leading to the disadvantages side, I suggest consuming more vegetables and lesser fruits as shown below.

Competition with Booster Juice

Source: http://7search.com/images/blog/business.jpg

Wishewan and Amack faced challenges when deciding if the concept would succeed in Canada. As you know, Canada has a colder climate, and they were not sure whether bringing the concept would fit into it. Are Canadians going to be interested in gulping down such a concept?

Wishewan and Amack did their research and they were determined to create a product that best suits the Canadian climate and irresistible to northern taste buds. They vision Canadians as healthy-conscious people who want alternatives to the high-sugar, high fat beverages that are being offered by most fast-food chains. But their main competitors are other juice and smoothie bar markets. Who are Booster Juice's competitors? Their competitors vary among different countries. Booster Juice's main competitors are as follows:

When you go to the food court in any mall, you see a lot of different drinks and frozen yogurt type of options, and Booster Juice is not always our first choice. You will see a variety of drink options such as Bubble Tease, Dairy Queen, Orange Julius, Freshly Squeezed, Jugo Juice, Teaopia, Yogen Fruz, Euphoria, etc.

What makes Booster Juice differentiate from its competitors:
  • Offers more than just a blend of various fruits and vegetables.
  • There are over three dozen varieties of beverages on the menu, and customers can customize their own drinks to please their taste buds and/or energy needs.
  • Each drink have some nutritional supplements - such as echinacea, goldseal, etc. - to give an extra "boost".
  • They also quesadillas and paninis to challenge the fast-food market.

For my next blog post, I will visit Booster Juice and share my experiences with my readers.

If you have any experiences with Booster Juice, would you prefer Booster Juice over these competitors? If not, then which one do you prefer?

Booster Juice: How it All Began

Source: http://www.easterseals.org/wp-content/uploads/2825/boosterjuice.jpg

Booster Juice is in the Guinness World Records for making the world's largest smoothie. It is also the fastest growing juice bar in all of Canada.

It all began when two university students, Canadian Dale Wishewan and American Jon Amack, met at a school in Oregon. They realized that there were not many healthy fast food stores. They soon figured that the concept of a healthy juice bar is just what people need, so they began discussing trends in the business world.  They had realized that the smoothie and juice bar business market was quickly growing in the United States, so they wanted to be the first to bring this idea to Canada. They knew that Canadians were health conscious people who would want alternatives to high-sugar, high fat beverages. The first store of Booster Juice opened in Edmonton in 1999 and has grown over 170 locations worldwide. The growing population for healthier food industries are growing at a rapid 30% a year, while fast food is growing at a slow 3%. More and more people are looking for healthier food alternatives.

For more information, check out this video on Dale Wishewan for a closer look at how Booster Juice happened, and what he is doing to make this brand a success. You can also check out their website at: www.boosterjuice.com
